Breeding these dogs can be very difficult, because males with their exaggerated features often are lazy and lack drive. So artificial insemination is used very often. Females have problems because of wide skulls of the pups; caesarian section may be necessary. An average litter size for the breed ranges from 4 to 5 puppies. Sometimes females don’t want to be bothered by their puppies, but if they live in a healthy and loving atmosphere, they are sure to raise the babies without lots of interference and artificial means.
