English Bulldogs Puppies - General Information
Modern English Bulldogs are smaller than their ancestors were. However, they have retained their original intimidating appearance, although it does belie their kind and friendly disposition. These dogs feature a specific structure of the mouth, which in the old days was their deadly weapon in bull-bating arenas.
English Bulldogs Puppies - Description
English Bulldogs are not very big, but they have very strong bodies, with muscular limbs, thick necks and big heads. They are 12-14 inches (females) and 14-16 inches high at the withers, weighing 35-45 and 45-55 pounds correspondingly. Actually, the proportions of the body are more important than their size and weight. They have short coats, which occur in brindle, fawn, brown or broken colors.
The head is large and broad; the small folded ears set at the upper angles of the square muzzle. The profile view also reveals a rectangular shape of the head, the line of the jaws running parallel to that of the back of the neck. The eyes are brown, round and placed at a maximum distance away from each other, neither sunken nor bulging. The muzzle features lose and wrinkly skin.
The neck is also loose-skinned, thick and brawny, featuring dewlaps in the region of the throat. The back of the neck is slightly convex. The back is moderately curved and muscular. The chest is roomy and deep, and the powerful front legs are set widely apart, providing a steadfast and firm standing. The hind legs are longer than the front legs, and are placed closer to each other. The tail is straight and short.
English Bulldogs Puppies - Temperament
English Bulldogs are perfect home companions, and their temper has nothing in common with their awesome look. Their previous ferocious character has been bred completely out over the last century. They are excellent with children, protective about their home, and family. They have a stubborn streak and are not good in obedience training. They can be destructive if left alone. English Bulldogs are not good runners and are not fit for physical strains.
